| aFGF
Fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF-1) also known as acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF), is a growth factor and signaling protein encoded by the FGF1 gene. It is synthesized as a 155 amino acid polypeptide, whose mature form is a non-glycosylated 17-18 kDa protein. Fibroblast growth factor protein was first purified in 1975, but soon afterwards others using different conditions isolated acidic FGF, Heparin-binding growth factor-1, and Endothelial cell growth factor-1. This protein functions as a modifier of endothelial cell migration and proliferation, as well as an angiogenic factor.| Typical data
As the OD values of the standard curve may vary according to the conditions of the actual assay performance (e.g. operator, pipetting technique, wash technique or temperature effects), the operator should establish a standard curve for each test. Typical standard curve and data are provided below for reference only.Concentration (pg/mL) | 500 | 250 | 125 | 62.5 | 31.25 | 15.62 | 7.81 | 0 |
OD | 2.23 | 1.42 | 0.83 | 0.5 | 0.31 | 0.23 | 0.18 | 0.08 |
Corrected OD | 2.15 | 1.34 | 0.75 | 0.42 | 0.23 | 0.15 | 0.1 | - |
| Repeatability
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):CV% < 10%; Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):CV% < 10%| Recovery
The recovery of Mouse aFGF spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.Sample Type | Range(%) | Average Recovery(%) |
Serum(n=8) | 84-101 | 96 |
Plasma(n=8) | 92-106 | 103 |
Cell Culture Supernates(n=8) | 96-109 | 105 |
| Linearity
Samples were spiked with high concentrations of Mouse aFGF and diluted with Universal Diluent to produce samples with values within the range of the assay.Serum(n=4) | Plasma(n=4) | Cell Culture Supernates(n=4) | ||
