| OSTN

Osteocrin (OSTN,musclin) is a novel bone-specific secreted protein that modulates the osteoblast phenotype. A 1280-bp mRNA encodes osteocrin producing a mature protein of 103 amino acids with a molecular mass of 11.4 kDa.Ostn is localized in osteoblasts and young osteocytes. Ostn expression is coincident with matrix formation and decreases with culture maturation.Involved in negative regulation of dendrite extension.
