| DGX

Digoxin (commonly known as digitalis) is a medication used to treat various cardiac conditions, most frequently atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and heart failure. As one of the oldest drugs in cardiology, it functions by enhancing myocardial contractility, increasing stroke volume and blood pressure, reducing heart rate, and to some extent, prolonging the contraction time range. Digoxin is administered either orally or intravenously, with an elimination half-life of approximately 36 hours under standard dosing in patients with normal renal function.
