Product Datasheets
| Tobramycin
Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from Streptomyces tenebrarius that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections, particularly Gram-negative infections. It is especially effective against species of Pseudomonas.Tobramycin does not pass the gastro-intestinal tract, so for systemic use it can only be given intravenously or by injection into a muscle. It was patented in 1965, and approved for medical use in 1974.It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines.| Typical data
As the OD values of the standard curve may vary according to the conditions of the actual assay performance (e.g. operator, pipetting technique, wash technique or temperature effects), the operator should establish a standard curve for each test. Typical standard curve and data are provided below for reference only.| Concentration (pg/mL) | 5000 | 2500 | 1250 | 625 | 312.5 | 156.25 | 78.12 | 0 |
| OD | 0.22 | 0.33 | 0.62 | 0.89 | 1.28 | 1.59 | 1.78 | 2.12 |
| Repeatability
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):CV% < 10%; Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):CV% < 10%| Recovery
The recovery of Tobramycin spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.| Sample Type | Range(%) | Average Recovery(%) |
| Serum(n=8) | 89-112 | 99 |
| Plasma(n=8) | 82-114 | 98 |
| Cell Culture Supernates(n=8) | 82-109 | 101 |
| Linearity
Samples were spiked with high concentrations of Tobramycin and diluted with Universal Diluent to produce samples with values within the range of the assay.| Serum(n=4) | Plasma(n=4) | Cell Culture Supernates(n=4) | ||
| 1 : 2 | Range (%) | 85-115 | 100-110 | 86-99 |
| Average (%) | 101 | 106 | 91 | |
| 1 : 4 | Range (%) | 89-110 | 87-105 | 91-102 |
| Average (%) | 103 | 97 | 98 |
