| DPD
Deoxypyridinoline (DPD), also known as D-Pyrilinks, Pyrilinks-D, or deoxyPYD, is one of two pyridinium crosslinks that provide structural rigidity to type I collagen in bone. This biochemical marker is measured in urine tests and used alongside other bone markers (e.g., alkaline phosphatase, osteocalcin, NTX) to diagnose skeletal disorders including postmenopausal osteoporosis, bone metastases, and Paget's disease. DPD quantification proves particularly valuable for monitoring therapeutic efficacy of bone-active agents like estrogen and bisphosphonates. As a stable end-product of bone collagen degradation, its excretion levels directly reflect osteoclast-mediated bone resorption activity, making it a specific indicator for assessing bone turnover rates in metabolic bone diseases.| Typical data
As the OD values of the standard curve may vary according to the conditions of the actual assay performance (e.g. operator, pipetting technique, wash technique or temperature effects), the operator should establish a standard curve for each test. Typical standard curve and data are provided below for reference only.| Concentration (ng/mL) | 200 | 100 | 50 | 25 | 12.5 | 6.25 | 3.12 | 0 |
| OD | 0.216 | 0.298 | 0.417 | 0.669 | 0.955 | 1.405 | 1.79 | 1.865 |
| Repeatability
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):CV% < 10%; Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):CV% < 10%| Recovery
The recovery of DPD spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.| Sample Type | Range(%) | Average Recovery(%) |
| Serum(n=8) | 81-101 | 96 |
| Plasma(n=8) | 92-105 | 101 |
| Linearity
Samples were spiked with high concentrations of DPD and diluted with Universal Diluent to produce samples with values within the range of the assay.| Serum(n=4) | Plasma(n=4) | ||
