| Polymyxin B

Polymyxin B is an antibiotic used to treat meningitis, pneumonia, sepsis, and urinary tract infections. While effective against many Gram-negative bacterial infections, it is inactive against Gram-positive bacteria. It can be administered intravenously, intramuscularly, intrathecally, or via inhalation. The injectable form is typically reserved for cases where no alternative treatments exist. Topically, it is used in combination with bacitracin (as bacitracin/polymyxin B) or with neomycin/bacitracin (as neomycin/polymyxin B/bacitracin) for skin infections.

The recovery of Polymyxin B spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.
